Sónia Araújo Will Present The Virtual International Portuguese Music Awards Show

The International Portuguese Music Awards (IPMA) is an annual awards show recognizing outstanding achievement in the music industry by artists of Portuguese ancestry from around the world. Due to COVID-19, the IPMA show set for Sunday August 2 will be presented virtually.

Beloved television personality Sónia Araújo will host the event that will include participation from several prominent artists including: Carlão, Helfimed, Inês Brusselmans (Miss Portuguesa, Miss World Portugal), Sylvie Da Costa Silva (Miss Universo Portugal), João Pedro Pais, Kevin Antunes, Mariza, Pedro Abrunhosa, Rui Bandeira, The Portuguese Kids, Miguel Angelo, and TIM, of Xutos e Pontapés.

Awards will be presented in twelve categories, with this year’s nominees hailing from eight different countries. The winners are chosen by a panel of music professionals and announced during the show.

The 2020 International Portuguese Music Awards will air via web stream on ipmaawards.com, as well as on The Portuguese Channel, Camões TV, and Xfinity On-Demand at 8PM EST (Boston/Toronto) on Sunday August 2.

The RTP Internacional airing will be announced later.

A reminder to all Luso artists around the world, IPMA will begin to accept submissions for 2021 by this year’s virtual show airing date (August 2).  The deadline for submissions will be November 30, 2020.
