Get ready for an unforgettable night at the International Portuguese Music Awards
The International Portuguese Music Awards (IPMA) is set to return to the stage on April 12, 2025, at the Providence Performing Arts Center in Rhode Island. Featuring an array of music genres, the show is an annual celebration of Portuguese culture, music, and talent.
PERFORMERS
Fernando Daniel – rose to stardom after winning The Voice in Portugal. A powerful voice and emotive performances showcase his versatility across multiple genres, including pop, soul, and ballads. Fernando Daniel was nominated for Best Portuguese Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards.
João Pedro Pais – has a career spanning over two decades, with his signature blend of pop and rock songs. His awards include Globos de Ouro (Golden Globe Awards) and Prémio Autores (Authors' Award). He has hit some of the biggest stages such as Rock in Rio and toured with Bryan Adams on the Spain and Portugal leg of his tour.
Augusto Canário – is celebrated for his role in preserving and modernizing Portuguese folk music, particularly from Madeira. His ability to bridge the gap between tradition and contemporary sounds earned him widespread acclaim.
Cremilda Medina – is a cultural ambassador for Cabo Verde and renowned for her contributions to the music of the islands, particularly in the genres of morna and coladeira, which are traditional styles of Cabo Verdean music. She is a two-time IPMA winner.
Jorge Silva – emigrated to the United States in 1974 and has a “Key to the City” of East Providence. His fifty-year career has brought him to stages such as the Grand Ole Opry and Ritz Theatre. He was once invited to compete in Festival da Canção for the chance to represent Portugal in the Eurovision.
The Manic Boys and Girls Club – is a sibling indie rock duo from Toronto known for their raw, high-energy performances. Their music typically features themes of youth, rebellion, and personal freedom. They won Music Video of the Year in the 2024 IPMA.
A CELEBRATION OF PORTUGUESE HERITAGE
The IPMA serves as a vibrant showcase of Portugal’s rich heritage, featuring artists of Portuguese descent from across the globe. It is a night that celebrates community, music, and the diverse sounds of the Portuguese diaspora.
Artists have until November 30 to submit their song or music video to be considered for nomination for the International Portuguese Music Awards 2025. There is also a New Talent category for which the finalists perform at the show.
