International Portuguese Music Awards Announce 2022 Nominees
The International Portuguese Music Awards revealed this year’s nominees in a web stream that was hosted by The Voice Portugal coach Aurea. The tenth annual awards show honoring artists of Portuguese descent is slated for Saturday, April 23, 2022 at the Providence Performing Arts Center.

NCIS Los Angeles lead actress Daniela Ruah and RTP talk show host Ricardo Farias will co-host the milestone event.
This year’s nominees hail from nine different countries, which goes to show how Portuguese people can also be found in places one normally would not expect.

New Talent

The new talent finalists will sing live at the show with the panel of judges scattered in the audience. The judges will rate the performances and select a winner to be announced later in the event. A $2000 cash prize and studio time with MDC Music in Toronto will be awarded to the IPMA “New Talent” winner.

The People’s Choice Award, presented by LiUNA, is the only category voted on by the public through the IPMA website. Voting is expected to commence in two weeks. The four artists/bands that receive the most votes become the official nominees, and the one with the highest amount of votes will be announced as the winner.
The 2022 International Portuguese Music Awards has a star-studded lineup of appearances and performances including Paulo Gonzo, Aurea, Calema, Delfins, Jorge Ferreira, and legendary rock band Xutos e Pontapés. Tickets are available at IPMAawards.com or by calling the PPAC box office, 401-421-2787.
The show will also be broadcasted on The Portuguese Channel, Camões TV, Xfinity On Demand, and worldwide via RTP International on a later date/time to be announced.
